Steve Wilkerson

Infield and Hitting Instructor

Steve Wilkerson joined the Play Ball USA staff in 2014. Steve was originally drafted in the 15th round by the Boston Red Sox out of Pope High School in Northeast, Marietta, GA where he won a state championship and was named the East Cobb Defensive Player-of-the-Year. Wilkerson turned down the Red Sox offer and went on to play 4 years at Clemson University.

At Clemson, he posted a career .291 batting average with a .362 on-base percentage in 216 games (185 starts) over four seasons totalling 47 doubles, six triples, 11 homers, 115 RBIs, 131 runs, 80 walks, nine hit-by-pitches and 29 steals ... had five double-digit hitting streaks in his career and was named Second Team All-ACC in 3 of his 4 years there. As a Senior, Wilkerson led or tied the Tigers lead in bunt singles (6), extra-base hits (25), doubles, home runs, total bases (103), slugging percentage and multiple-RBI games (13) propelling him to win the Mitchell Award (given to the team most valuable player.) Following a strong Senior year he was selected in the 8th round pick of the Baltimore Orioles where he spent his first professional season in 2014. He is currently on the Baltimore Orioles active roster playing multiple infield positions.

Steve is known for his strong defensive play and his ability to make spectacular plays up the middle. A switch hitter as well, he specializes in infield and hitting instruction.
